Rule of law is under attack, Kamala Harris tells Coast Guard graduates

U.S. Coast Guard Academy cadets will hear from Vice President Kamala Harris, who will tell them they are kicking off their careers in the world at a critical time, one in which the "rule of law" is challenged and "fundamental principles are under threat."
Harris will address the state of the world in her commencement address at the academy in New London, Connecticut, pointing to the Russian invasion of Ukraine as an example of how long-standing rules and norms are being attacked.
The Democratic vice president also makes the case that as Coast Guard members the graduates will play an important role in helping the United States uphold the international rules-based order, calling it one of the United States’ “defining missions.”
