Rising gas prices force companies to add surcharges

Increasing gasoline prices have led to surcharges being added by ride-hailing services, restaurants and transportation companies.

It will cost an additional 35 to 45 cents per Uber Eats meal for at least two months. Uber rides will increase by 45 to 55 cents per trip. Those who pay out of pocket for fuel will be compensated by the temporary surcharge.

While drivers petition for higher customer rates and reduced profits at Coworker.org, Uber and Lyft have not responded. The petition claims drivers cannot make ends meet due to increased gas costs. Over 8500 people have signed the petition.
