On Monday, Japan, South Korea, and the US conducted trilateral meetings to explore countermeasures to North Korea's "series" of ballistic missile launches, the fourth of which occurred this month.
During the discussion, US special envoy for North Korea Sung Kim voiced worry over "the latest in a series of ballistic missile tests by the DPRK this month," according to a statement from US State Department spokesperson Ned Price.
North Korea's operations are in breach of repeated UN Security Council resolutions forbidding the nation from engaging in ballistic missile programs, according to Kim. He also urged North Korea to stop its "unlawful and destabilizing acts" and restart talks, according to Price.
South Korea and Japan reported Monday that North Korea launched two suspected ballistic missiles into the East Sea from Sunan Airfield, the fourth such launch this month.
