Medicines blocked by Russia, Ukrainian minister says

Health minister in Ukraine accuses Russian forces of committing a crime against humanity by denying affordable medicine access in occupied areas since invading the country five months ago.


Liashko spoke at the Health Ministry in Kyiv late Friday, saying, "During the whole six-month war, the Russians have not allowed us to provide our own supplies."


“We believe that these actions are being taken with intent by Russia, and we consider them to be crimes against humanity and war crimes that will be documented and will be recognized,” the minister said.

Cancer patients and chronic health conditions are provided medications by the Ukrainian government. According to UN and Ukrainian officials, damages to hospitals, infrastructure, and displacements of an estimated 7 million people have also interfered with treatment.
