The nation is reeling after the horrific killing of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, fatally stabbed on August 22 by career criminal DeCarlos Brown Jr., a repeat offender with a history of violent crime. But while conservatives are sounding the alarm about what many see as an obvious racially motivated murder, the mainstream media has largely stayed quiet — exposing, once again, its glaring double standard.

Conservative leader Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, blasted CNN commentator Van Jones for attempting to downplay the attack. Despite surveillance video clearly capturing Brown shouting “I got that white girl” as he carried out the vicious stabbing, Jones insisted there was “no evidence” race played a role.
Kirk didn’t hold back:
“George Floyd died of a drug overdose after a lifetime of destroying his body with illegal substances. BLM burned down cities, destroyed businesses, and vilified law enforcement for a criminal who resisted arrest. Now, when a young white woman — a refugee fleeing war — is butchered by a Black repeat offender who openly stated his motive, the media goes silent.”
The contrast could not be sharper. When George Floyd died in 2020, Democrats and their allies in the press elevated him to sainthood, sparking months of riots that devastated American cities. Yet when Zarutska — who came to America seeking safety and freedom — is murdered in cold blood, CNN and others shrug their shoulders.
Social media erupted with calls for accountability, with many urging Attorney General Pam Bondi to pursue federal hate crime charges. “If this were reversed — a white man killing a Black woman while shouting a racial slur — Van Jones would be leading the mob,” Kirk noted.
Americans are asking: Why is the life of Iryna Zarutska worth less to the media than George Floyd’s? The silence speaks volumes about who the Left chooses to champion — and who they quietly ignore when the narrative doesn’t fit their agenda.
This isn’t justice. It’s hypocrisy. And the American people see it.
