Marianne Williamson, the first Democrat to officially challenge President Joe Biden for the 2024 primary, has leveled accusations against the Democratic National Committee (DNC), claiming that the party is making it easier for the incumbent to secure the party's nomination.

Williamson voiced her concerns during an appearance on Fox News' "The Next Revolution" on Monday, expressing her dissatisfaction with the DNC's decision to forgo primary debates despite multiple candidates vying for the nomination.

In her interview, Williamson criticized the DNC, stating, "I am still getting some patronizing treatment, and as we know ... the DNC has said that there will be no debates, and they are clearly doing what they can to make it easier for the president to win the nomination. But I'm out there, and I have another opponent who is out there." The renowned self-help book author emphasized the importance of democracy, urging the American people to have options and access to a wide range of ideas, regardless of their political affiliation.

Williamson, who announced her presidential bid in early March, gained national attention during the 2020 Democratic nomination race, although she ultimately fell short of securing the nomination. Since declaring her candidacy for 2024, the Texas native has repeatedly accused the DNC of rigging the nomination process in favor of Biden. She argues that the decision on whether primary debates should take place should rest with the voters, not the party.

"The DNC should not be rigging this system," Williamson stated during an interview on ABC's "This Week" in March. "They don't even pretend anymore. They're not even covert about their swaying the primary season. They're very overt about it." When asked about the possibility of debating President Biden, Williamson firmly believes that the president should engage in debates and allow voters to decide who deserves the nomination.

Although the DNC has not publicly announced the elimination of primary debates in the upcoming election cycle, The Washington Post reported on April 20 that the national Democratic Party intends to support Biden's reelection and has no plans to sponsor primary debates. This decision has sparked responses from various prominent figures, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who tweeted, "You and other candidates deserve that opportunity!"

As the first Democrat to challenge President Biden for the 2024 primary, Marianne Williamson continues to advocate for an inclusive and democratic process. Her accusations against the DNC reflect her belief that primary debates play a crucial role in giving candidates a platform to present their ideas and allowing voters to make informed decisions. Whether the DNC will address these concerns and reconsider its stance on primary debates remains to be seen.
