GOP Plan to Investigate Hunter Biden Laptop case

After Republicans retake the House later this year, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said he'd launch an investigation into if there is an effort to suppress news coverage about Hunter Biden's laptop and the contents.

In a statement last week, Issa said that Big Tech will resist accountability like it always does-but he emphasized that the committees are more determined than ever to get the truth out about the collusion that occurred. “We should carry with us an obligation to see this through.”

Facebook and Twitter both blocked the spread of the Post's story with just days to go until the 2020 elections, provoking outrage from the newspaper's editors and Republican elected officials.

In response, Twitter banned anyone from sharing the article on its platform, citing "hacked material," and blocked the Post from using its account for two weeks.

In October 2020, the Post's reported that emails obtained from Hunter Biden's laptop showed that Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, and Ukraine's business leaders met.

It was reported earlier this month that the contents of the laptop were authentic by the New York Times and other legacy outlets. Before, however, some outlets and former intelligence officials claimed the information was disinformation designed to sway the election.
