GOP Lawmakers Move to Cut Federal Funding to “Communist NYC” Under Mayor Zohran Mamdani

In a bold stand for American taxpayers and national interests, Representative Buddy Carter (R-GA) is introducing the “Moving American Money Distant from Anti-National Interests Act”, aptly nicknamed the “MAMDANI Act.” The legislation seeks to halt all federal funding to New York City under newly elected socialist mayor Zohran Mamdani, whose far-left, anti-American policies have already sent shockwaves through the nation.

The two-page bill—simple yet powerful—declares that “no Federal funds may be obligated or expended for any purpose to New York, New York” during Mamdani’s tenure. Fox News first broke the story, reporting that the bill is set to be introduced Friday.

The move comes just days after President Donald Trump’s warning that he would consider cutting federal funds to New York if Mamdani, whom he called a “Communist candidate,” won the election. Trump stated on Truth Social:

“If Communist Candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the Election for Mayor of New York City, it is highly unlikely that I will be contributing Federal Funds… because, as a Communist, this once great City has ZERO chance of success or even survival!”

Trump’s statement echoes the frustration of millions of Americans who see New York City’s fall from greatness as a symbol of leftist decay and moral collapse. Once the shining beacon of American capitalism, NYC has now, under the rule of a 34-year-old socialist Muslim mayor, embraced policies that threaten freedom, faith, and fiscal sanity.

Carter, who is currently running for U.S. Senate in Georgia, said the bill sends a clear message: hardworking Americans should not bankroll the radical experiments of socialist politicians.

“If New Yorkers want communism, we should let them have their wish and not artificially prop them up with our successful capitalist system,” Carter said. “Any New Yorker with common sense is welcome to move to the great, FREE state of Georgia.”

While the bill may face resistance in the Democrat-controlled House, conservatives view it as a symbolic shot across the bow—a warning that the Republican Party will not stand idly by as the Left turns America’s greatest cities into ideological warzones.

The GOP’s strategy is clear: tie Mamdani’s extreme socialist agenda to the Democratic Party and force liberals nationwide to answer for his radical policies. With the MAMDANI Act, Republicans are declaring that American taxpayer dollars will no longer fund the destruction of America’s values—especially not in a city now run by a man whose worldview stands in direct opposition to the nation’s founding principles.

As President Trump rallies for a second wave of American renewal, the MAMDANI Act stands as the latest front in the battle between freedom and socialism—between the America that built the world’s greatest nation and the radicals determined to tear it down from within.
