The Justice Department said on Monday that five people had been charged days after Houston police discovered 97 immigrants at a suburban home in what appeared to be a human trafficking case.
These individuals, all of whom reside illegally in the United States, are now in custody and facing federal charges. They are from Mexico, El Salvador, and Honduras, and are between 21 and 31 years old.
According to a criminal complaint filed on Saturday, the five housed, concealed, and protected illegal aliens for the purpose of commercial or private financial gain.
