Defending Taiwan if attacked by China is Biden's promise

In a statement on Monday, American President Joe Biden reiterated that the United States will defend Taiwan if the communist party of China attacks the mainland.
In response to a reporter's question “Will you defend Taiwan militarily if need be?”” Biden replied flatly "Yes" to the media at the Tokyo press conference on May 23.
Biden then added, “It’s the commitment we made. Look, here’s the situation. We agree with a ‘One China’ policy, we’ve signed onto it, and all the intended agreements made from there. But the idea that [Taiwan] can be taken by force … is just not appropriate,” he said of the CCP’s threats to its neighboring self-governed island.
