The Biden administration must confront China over the U.S. fentanyl crisis now, according to former President Donald Trump.
There must be an immediate meeting between us and China about Fentanyl, and what they are doing to pour it into the U.S. "Fentanyl is tearing our country apart," Trump wrote on Oct. 6 on his Truth Social account.
Approximately 250,000 Americans die a year from fentanyl in the United States. CDC reports indicated a 23 percent increase in deaths involving fentanyl in 2021, although official reports have indicated an increase in the rate. Last year, there were 107,622 drug overdose deaths, according to the CDC.
In December 2021, Families Against Fentanyl reported that fentanyl was now the leading cause of death among Americans between 18 and 45, surpassing suicide, car accidents, and COVID-19.
