On Tuesday, in his State of the Union address, President Joe Biden announced the United States will join other western nations in enforcing a ban on Russian aircraft, including commercial aircraft and private jets, entering U.S. airspace.
It is a commonly repeated assertion that the Kremlin continuously attempts to interfere with American politics: "Putin's latest attack on Ukraine was premeditated and totally unprovoked. Diplomacy was repeatedly rejected by him. He believed the American West, NATO, and the nation at large wouldn't respond, so he divided us here at home, in this chamber, in this nation."
Congressional members are unanimous in their condemnation of the invasion and support of tough sanctions against Russia.
According to The U.S. Department of Justice, President Biden announced today that the U.S. Justice Department is creating a dedicated Task Force to investigate the Russian oligarchs' crimes. Together with our European allies, we're securing their yachts, their luxury apartments, and their private jets.
“Six days ago, Russia’s Vladimir Putin sought to shake the very foundations of the free world,” Biden said. “He thought he could roll into Ukraine and the world would roll over. Instead, he met with a wall of strength he never anticipated or imagined—he met the Ukrainian people.”
“Yes, we the United States of America stand with the Ukrainian people,” Biden continued. “Throughout our history, we’ve learned this lesson: When dictators do not pay a price for their aggression, they cause more chaos. They keep moving, and the cost, the threats to America and to the world keeps rising.
“That’s why the NATO alliance was created, to secure peace and stability in Europe after World War II. The United States is a member along with 29 other nations.”
Biden continued, “It matters. American diplomacy matters. American resolve matters.”
