Ambassador position for wife of White House chief of staff

There are questions about whether a top Biden administration official helped her land a new ambassadorship post this week.


The U.S. has named Monica Medina special envoy for biodiversity and water resources, a newly created post. It is a position within the Executive Branch of the State Department.


Officials who serve or exercise authority in an agency are prohibited from advocating for employment or promotion in that agency.


It is the responsibility of the Treasury Department to withhold pay from individuals who are appointed or promoted in violation of law. The spokesperson for Klain was not available for comment. A request for information was not returned by the White House.
