A spokesperson for Virginia's new Attorney General, Jason Miyares, has rejected rumors that Miyares dismissed 30 employees just days after assuming office.
Miyares took office on Jan. 15 and immediately ordered a slew of inquiries into the Virginia Parole Board and Loudoun County Public Schools, claiming that "Virginians want answers," transparency, and responsibility in the wake of "horrific aftermath" scandals.
According to reports, Miyares had informed around 30 staff workers that they would no longer be working by the Attorney General's Office.
Virginia State Sen. Louise Lucas wrote on Twitter that Miyares fired the “entire” civil rights division, which she said was “total hypocrisy.”
