Two Democratic victories, along with security in the White House, would provide a majority in the Senate through the break-up vote that the vice president Mike Pence could cast in his role as president of the Senate. Otherwise, Republicans retain control of the Senate. The current composition is 50 Republicans and 49 Democrats.
