American troops stationed at Kabul International Airport were fired at and had to return fire, killing two, according to Pentagon spokesman John Kirby on Monday.

Videos and images posted to the internet showed Afghan people clinging to US military jets completing evacuations. According to the video, at least two people died after falling hundreds of yards from military jets.

As of Monday, U.S. soldiers were collaborating with Turkey as well as other foreign troops to clear the Kabul airport so that foreign evacuation flights could resume, according to Kirby. He further said that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had ordered the deployment of another battalion to the airport.
