TRUMP ADMINISTRATION EXPOSES SECRET U.S.-FUNDED BIOLAB NETWORK IN UKRAINE

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In what may become one of the most significant intelligence disclosures of the decade, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has released newly declassified documents revealing that American taxpayer dollars helped fund and support more than 120 biological laboratories across more than 30 countries, including over 40 facilities in Ukraine. The disclosure has reignited concerns about government transparency, gain-of-function research, and the role of unelected bureaucracies in shaping national security policy.

According to documents released by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), one U.S.-supported laboratory in Kharkiv, Ukraine, likely housed dangerous pathogens and was considered vulnerable to seizure, damage, or compromise during the ongoing Russia–Ukraine conflict. Intelligence assessments reportedly warned that the facility contained biological materials requiring strict security protections.

The newly declassified files indicate that the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Veterinary Medicine in Kharkiv was among the facilities receiving assistance under a Department of Defense biological threat reduction program. Intelligence reports cited in the release noted that the laboratory had previously stored hundreds of pathogens and had experienced biosafety and biosecurity concerns, including deficiencies in areas handling contagious bacteria.

Additional documents released by ODNI state that Ukrainian facilities worked with pathogens including anthrax, Ebola, and SARS-related coronaviruses. The files further reveal that American agencies helped train Ukrainian scientists in biocontainment procedures and laboratory safety protocols.

For years, establishment politicians, corporate media outlets, and public health officials dismissed concerns about U.S.-funded biolaboratories in Ukraine as “misinformation” or “conspiracy theories.” Yet the documents released by Gabbard now confirm that these facilities did exist and received substantial American support. The ODNI stated that information regarding the existence, locations, and funding of these laboratories had been withheld from the American public.

The disclosure comes amid a broader effort by President Donald Trump’s administration to eliminate dangerous gain-of-function research. In 2025, President Trump signed Executive Order 14292 prohibiting federal funding for risky gain-of-function experiments without strict oversight and accountability measures. The administration argues that research involving highly contagious pathogens presents unacceptable risks to both national and global security.

Gabbard stated that many government-funded laboratories around the world have engaged in research involving hazardous pathogens with insufficient transparency and oversight. She pledged that intelligence agencies will continue investigating the locations, activities, and pathogen inventories of these facilities.

The revelations are likely to fuel renewed scrutiny of figures who aggressively dismissed questions about overseas biolabs and gain-of-function research. Critics argue that Americans deserve answers about how billions of taxpayer dollars were spent, what research was conducted, and whether adequate safeguards were in place to prevent accidents or misuse.

Supporters of the Trump administration view the disclosure as another example of a government bureaucracy operating behind closed doors while labeling legitimate public concerns as disinformation. They argue that transparency and accountability are essential when research involving dangerous biological agents is conducted using taxpayer funds.

The declassification also raises serious national security questions. If laboratories containing dangerous pathogens were located in active conflict zones, many Americans will wonder why such risks were tolerated in the first place. The possibility that sensitive biological materials could be compromised during wartime presents concerns that extend far beyond Ukraine.

As the investigation continues, the Trump administration says it intends to identify every foreign laboratory receiving U.S. support, determine what pathogens are being studied, and ensure that dangerous gain-of-function research is permanently halted.

For millions of Americans who were told these concerns were imaginary, Friday’s disclosures represent a dramatic turning point. The debate is no longer about whether the laboratories existed. According to the documents released by America’s top intelligence office, they did. The questions now are who authorized them, what research was conducted, and why the American people were kept in the dark for so long.
