The experimental Moderna vaccine was 94.5% effective in preventing COVID-19 based on interim data from a late-stage trial, the company said Monday, becoming the second US pharmacist to deliver results far beyond expectations.

Moderna expects to have sufficient safety data required to obtain a permit from the United States in the coming week and the company expects to apply for an Emergency Use Permit (US) in the coming weeks.

Pfizer vaccine should be shipped and stored at -70 ° C, which is typical for Antarctic winters. It can be stored for up to five days at standard refrigerator temperatures or up to 15 days in an insulated shipping box.
