A US federal appeals court on Saturday issued a temporary suspension allowing the Republican governor of Texas to continue restricting counties to a single drop-off site for absentee ballots in the Nov.3 presidential election.
On Friday, a federal court removed Governor Greg Abbott's restrictions on handover sites, which Democrats denounced as the voter suppression.
Abbott's order means that for voters who want to return absentee ballots in person rather than in the mail, some will have to travel greater distances to cast their ballots. The governor said the limit was necessary to avoid electoral fraud.
