President Trump Won't Attend Joe Biden's Inauguration

President-elect Joe Biden will be sworn in at the traditional ceremony on the West Front of the Capitol

People have been asking for months whether President Trump would attend Joe Biden's inauguration if that happened.

President Trump: I Won’t Attend Joe Biden’s Inauguration

President Donald Trump said he will not attend the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden on January 20.

In a tweet Friday morning, President Trump said, "To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th."

He did not indicate what he would do in that day's place. Reuters quoted unidentified sources as saying that he was expected to travel to Florida one day before the opening.

Paul Ryan, Vice President Mike Pence, former President George W Bush, the Clintons, and the Obamas will be there.

The congressional committee that plans the ceremony says the swearing-in will take place on the Capitol's West Front as planned.

In the wake of the insurrection, security for the inaugural is expected to be extremely tight. A large fence has already been placed around the perimeter of the Capitol grounds. There will be few guests.
