President Tsai Ing-wen said her government is working with the semiconductor sector to find a way to overcome the challenges facing it.

A number of semiconductors used in washing machines, cellphones, data centers, and fighter jets are produced in Taiwan. TSMC, the world's largest contract chipmaker, produces them all.

According to Tsai's office, "the continued success of this industry comes despite major global challenges in recent years, including uncertainty regarding supply chains", said the minister at a forum in Taipei late on Wednesday.

The situation continues to become more volatile even today as new challenges arise. Despite these challenges, our government will continue to work with industry to overcome them," she stated.
