'I'm not worried about whether Ron DeSantis will challenge me for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024,' former president Donald Trump said.

As the 45th president has hinted repeatedly at plans to run for a third term after leaving the White House last year, he may run again. According to Trump, he is "so close to making a decision" regarding his presidential bid in 2024.

Yet while many prominent Republicans have said they won’t run if Trump does, DeSantis has declined to make such a promise.

“I don’t know if Ron is running, and I don’t ask him,” Trump told The New Yorker. “It’s his prerogative. I think I would win,” he said.

Due to his popularity with Trump's supporters in 2024, there is speculation that DeSantis may run for president. A recent poll shows the Florida governor is narrowly ahead of Donald Trump in the GOP presidential race for 2024, unlike Trump's usual dominance in the polls.
