The German defense minister say still needs the United States and NATO for security

ree

The German Defense Minister said, on Tuesday, that Europe will not be able to guarantee its security without the help of the United States and NATO for decades to come, rejecting French President Emmanuel Macron's call for an independent European defense strategy.

She added that Europe will need contracts to build its conventional and nuclear military forces to compensate for what the United States and NATO currently contribute to the continent's security.

The minister said the United States provides 70% of critical military capabilities such as surveillance, helicopters, aerial refueling, and satellite communications to NATO.
