Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) distributed water to the needy on Saturday after returning from a trip to Cancun.

In the photos he posted online, Cruz is seen carrying water and putting it into vehicles. The lawmaker was also seen visiting people who were driving their cars to a place to fetch water.

Water bottle packages have been a common sight in Texas in recent days as the state suffers from an unusual stretch of freezing temperatures, leading to an overloaded electrical grid and problems with the water supply.

Cruz used the hashtag "Texas Strong" with the photos. He shared a site in Austin that told the public that the city was distributing nearly 11,000 boxes of water to vital facilities and at-risk residents.
