Talks on competition in the tech sector at White House meeting with small and mid-sized firms

Small and mid-sized businesses met with White House officials on Wednesday to address competitive challenges in the internet industry, as pressure mounts in Congress to rein in major tech firms.

According to the White House, the conference was attended by Bruce Reed, President Joe Biden's senior tech-consultant and deputy chief of staff; Brian Deese, head of the National Economic Council; and leaders from smaller Internet companies including Sonos and Yelp Inc.

The White House said in an announcement that the discussion "targeted on the problems entrepreneurs, brick-and-mortar stores, and other companies face operating in industries dominated by a few large platforms."
