Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) urges the United States Army to be much more concentrated on “readiness, not wokeness,” and he aims to eliminate the teaching of “destructive and polarising” critical race theory to members of the armed forces.
In an interview with The Epoch Times, congressman Buck said he believes CRT—which has become more of a central focus following the death of George Floyd while in police custody on May 25, 2020— has “no place” within the U.S. military, calling it “dangerous and divisive”.
“I think that there are political theories that are being espoused in this country, such as critical race theory, that are dangerous, and divisive and have no place in the military,” he said.
CRT supporters, like General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has justified its courses in the United States military, stating that he wants to “fully comprehend white rage” and that it is essential for US army forces men and women to be “open-minded and extensively perused.”
On the other hand, Rep. Ken Buck believes that the military must be focused on "winning battles" rather than spending hours upon hours getting taught on "social concerns."
