Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Thursday that legislation to help airlines survive the fallout from the coronavirus is a matter of national security and can only advance in Congress. With guarantees that lawmakers will work on a more comprehensive aid bill.

There was “a clear understanding” that airlines aid had “to be in the context of a fuller bill. They don’t have to happen at the same moment but they have to be happening with the assurance that we will go beyond the assistance to the airlines.” - Pelosi

Earlier, at a weekly press conference, Nancy Pelosi said, "There is no independent bill without a bigger bill."
