
“Today, all across this nation, we can say with confidence: America is coming back together,” Biden declared as he hosted more than 1,000 service members, first responders, and other guests for a July Fourth celebration on the South Lawn of the White House.
“This year the Fourth of July is a day of special celebration, for we’re emerging from the darkness of a year of pandemic and isolation, a year of pain fear, and heartbreaking loss,” the president said before fireworks lit up the sky over the National Mall.
The administration was sending "surge" teams to Colorado and Missouri. Additional teams of infectious disease experts, public health professionals, doctors, and nurses were preparing to assist in additional sites with a combination of low vaccination rates and rising cases.
Overall, the vastly improved American landscape was in stark contrast to much of the world, where vast vaccine deserts and a vast community still exist that could open the door to more dangerous variables. The Biden administration has been increasingly shifting the federal response to the complex logistics of shipping excess US vaccines abroad in an effort to help other countries defeat the pandemic.
With American demand for vaccines declining even when they have been widely available for several months, and with governments and companies offering a series of incentives to Americans for injections, officials are increasingly asserting that the consequences of the disease now largely reflect those individual choices. who has not yet been vaccinated.
