Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said on Sunday that Michigan will ban indoor dining, high schools, and college for three weeks starting Wednesday as coronavirus cases rise dramatically.

“We are in the worst moment of this pandemic to date,” Whitmer told a televised news conference. “The situation has never been direr. We are at the precipice and we need to take some action.”

Gretchen Whitmer warned that without taking action, the state could lose 1,000 residents a week to the pandemic, which is nearly three times the number of deaths from the new coronavirus in the week ending Friday.
