Georgia's 2nd Congressional District GOP primary is won by Chris West

Jeremy Hunt, a well-funded freshman at West Point who is also a former Army captain, lost in the Republican runoff for Georgia's 2nd Congressional District to attorney and Georgia Air National Guard member Chris West on June 21.



At 10:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, 94 percent of the votes had been counted by Decision Desk HQ, with West having accumulated 51.3 percent of the vote and Hunt having collected 48.7 percent.



Representative Sanford Bishop (D-Ga.), who won 93 percent of the vote in the May 24 primary and has been in office since 1993, faces West in the general election.



In the May 24 Republican primary, Hunt tallied 37 percent of the ballots with West in second place at 30 percent.
