On Wednesday, General Motors (GM) showcased a new personal self-driving electric supercar from its luxury brand Cadillac, and the company's CEO stated that a personal autonomous vehicle will be introduced "as soon as the middle of the decade."
The electric car, which is part of Cadillac's Halo Idea Collection, was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and is being developed in collaboration with GM's majority-owned Cruise division.
According to GM, InnerSpace, a two-seat electric and autonomous luxury car, uses "cutting-edge technologies designed to enhance the passenger experience along with the additional personal time allowed by completely autonomous mobility."
The car's completely autonomous ability means it can drive itself in any condition, without the need for the driver to intervene.
There are currently no such cars on the market, but Tesla does offer customers vehicles with Autopilot and Full Self-Driving Ability, which are designed for usage by fully alert drivers who have their hands on the wheel and are ready to take over at any time.
