Finland has been cut off from Russian gas exports






On Saturday, Russian gas supplies were cut off to neighboring Finland when it refused to pay in roubles for supplies. In addition, Finland also applied for membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in the same period.


Finnish gas system operator Gasgrid Finland confirmed the Russian gas supplies have been cut off on Saturday.

The Russian state-owned energy company Gazprom gave notice to its Finnish equivalent Gasum, saying that natural gas supplies will be cut off to Finland on Saturday at 7:00 a.m. local time.
