Psaki said on Sunday the Democrats would lose if November's midterm elections are a "referendum" on the Biden incumbent president.

“If it is a referendum on the president, they will lose. And they know that. They also know that crime is a huge vulnerability for Democrats, I would say one of the biggest vulnerabilities,” Psaki said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sept. 25.

As we approach the November election, Biden's approval rating remains low. A recent poll conducted by Reuters/Ipsos found that 39 percent of Americans approved of the president and 57 percent disapproved.

The survey also revealed that 67 percent of respondents felt the United States was headed in the wrong direction, while 21 percent felt the country was heading in the right direction.

On the contrary, Psaki said that if the focus of the midterm elections is on the “most extreme” party, mentioning House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) by name, the Democrats will secure a victory in November.
