'Commitment to America' plan unveiled by GOP leader McCarthy

Republicans' "Commitment to America" plan featured a litany of policy promises on September 23 unveiled by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

Senate races are generally considered slight favorites for Democrats, but Republicans are expected to gain control of the House next year.

McCarthy has every chance of being speaker of the House if they were to take the lower chamber.

His plan is not aimed at politicians in Washington, but at the American public.

"We have been listening to Americans across the country for the last year and a half," he added. "And they're afraid. They wonder whether they can afford it—can they afford to fill up their gas, can they go to the grocery store again which now costs more?

The rapid rise in inflation, which has broken record after record over the past year, compounds these worries, McCarthy noted.

He said that the average American's take-home pay has declined. Because of the Democrats' inflation, they only receive 11 months' salary, they lost one month's wage. And so what we think you should do is actually have a plan for a new direction.”
