$1 billion to be given to airports for terminal upgrades by the FAA

A recent infrastructure bill approved by the Biden administration provides nearly $1 billion for the expansion and upgrades of 85 airport terminals and other facilities.

As a result of the projects, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said flying will be safer and more efficient in the future.

“I don’t think anybody could look at airports across America today and say that the existing system and existing levels of funding have been adequate,” Buttigieg told reporters.

As part of an infrastructure bill passed by Congress and signed by President Joe Biden last November, Congress approved $5 billion for airport projects, the first installment of which was announced Thursday.
